I wanted to talk about people who are learning to be Network Engineers. Some folks think being a Network Engineer means just setting up routers or switches using specific commands. I’ve seen people who just memorize commands without understanding anything.

I want to make it clear that being a Network Engineer isn’t just about remembering these commands or setting up gadgets. Trust me, anyone can remember commands and do device setups.Network Engineering is more than that, it involves understanding concepts, creating networks, and getting into the inner workings of different technologies and protocols. You need to know how different parts work together and why they matter. What truly matters is understanding what’s happening, how it’s happening, and why it’s happening.

Just knowing how to set up devices without really understanding what’s going on is not enough. If you don’t get how things work, you’ll struggle when things go wrong and you need to fix them. If you truly know how stuff works, you can predict what might break. And that’s a big deal.

I understand that getting into hands-on labs is really important because it lets you witness things in action. However, assuming that Network Engineering only revolves around device setups is a misconception. If you’re struggling to recall various commands for different tasks, there’s no need to be concerned. After reading this, you’ll realize there’s more to focus on. I’m sure that this writing will clear up all confusions.
